What I Learned From The Book Of Job.
What I Learned From The Book Of Job, - Rev. Don Victor
The Book of Job was most likely written between the sixth and seventh centuries BCE, possibly during the Babylonian Exile.
The Book of Job has been the subject of much debate throughout the years due to the divergent interpretations that hundreds of theologians have offered.
The story of Job began at the very beginning of the book of Job. As told in the Bible, Job was a man who lived in the land of Uz. Job was a perfect and upright person who feared God and shunned evil. The story continues, saying that Job also had seven sons and three daughters.
Job was the greatest of all the men of the east because he had a very large family—seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred sheep—in addition to his other wealth.
This is the way the character of Job was summarized in the book of Job; the Bible says in Job 1:22. Job never blamed God for any of the tragedies that befell him.
The LORD issued a warning to Job's friend Eliphaz, telling him that he and his two other companions had failed to speak well of him as Job had.
The Lord commands: Bring seven bullocks and seven rams as a sacrificial offering to my servant Job. When my servant Job prays for you, I will answer him; if not, I will deal harshly with you for not speaking of me in the same way that my servant Job did.
Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar went and carried out the LORD's instructions, and Job accepted their offerings and prayed for them, and the Lord heard Job's request.
Job remained obedient to God even in the midst of pain and tragedy. Think about Job pleading on behalf of his three friends who had deserted him.
This is an amazing lesson to learn.
There are many teachings in the book of Job. While reading Job's book today, I learned a few things that I want to share with you.
As stated in the Bible; For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: Matthew 6:14
1) FORGIVENESS
It is also amazing to see how God first gave Job the responsibility of praying for and forgiving his friends before He restored everything he had lost.
This implies that the condition for Job's friends forgiveness from God was attached to Job's forgiveness of them.
It appears that the prerequisite for God giving back Job's losses and wealth was the same as forgiving his friends.
Think about the millions of people who are suffering from pain, miserable marriages, job losses, and homelessness for a moment because of only one thing; 'unforgiveness.'
But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Matthew 6:15.
2) UNFORGIVENESS
The question is, Shouldn't I Forgive? It is essential that you comply since the Bible instructs us to. It hurts to be unforgiving. It is useless to nurture resentment or envy toward one another. Being intolerant is fatal. It hurts a lot. It is useless to harbor animosity.
Forgiveness is lifesaving. Job could have chosen to act otherwise; praise God. Job forgives. I think Job understood that being unforgiving has no advantages, on the contrary, it causes enormous harm.
The most subtle killer we can think of is spiritual acid, and it is unforgiveness. It is preferable that you forgive and move on. One of the most important lessons today. At no moment can two people be correct.
Oh, Lord, have mercy on us.
You'll see that those who have experienced unforgiveness are rarely being ready to forgive, while perpetrators frequently lack awareness of their own need for remorse.
Why kill your fellow humans when they are, by all accounts, better and more peace-loving than you are? Too many people are too callous. Unforgiveness has this as its foundation.
The Lord shall judge the wicked in Jesus name.
My lesson is straightforward: regardless of their own hardships, those who are sincerely following the Lord will always find a reason to forgive.
No one is saying it's easy to forgive, but there is more than enough grace to forgive.
Job showed me that no matter how hard we try to attract people to ourselves, there will always be betrayal and ungodliness.
We can still be forgiving in spite of all of that as we undoubtedly learned here.
I sincerely pray that each and every one of my readers will learn from Job's story in Jesus name, Amen.
