How to Handle A Bad Medical Report.
How to Handle A Bad Medical Report.
Isaiah 41:10: Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
I read yesterday about quite a few patients who ended their lives after hearing from their doctors that their conditions wouldn't get any better. It is regrettable that those who have been trained to manage situations like this are underperforming in their respective jobs.
The Bible exhorts us not to become alarmed by difficulties in life, which also include medical problems. There will come a point in your life when you need to appear before a doctor to address your health-related issues. Only for such a reason should one see a doctor. Thus, it is of the utmost importance to all of God's children to be well-versed in the Bible.
1) When you receive a negative medical report, you must be brave, resilient, and optimistic. If you have to go, say thank you to the doctor.
2) Notifying everyone may not even be necessary at some points. Jesus is the perfect companion. Tell it to Jesus!
3) Pray for guidance
4) Rejoice and remember that God is in control of your life, not your doctor.
Pray against the doctor's negative report. Your doctor's diagnosis should not be taken as gospel truth. It's not a sign that your doctor is dishonest or a bad person if he or she tells you that your illness won't get better. Never at all! Your doctor's report is based on two factors: his training and his level of experience.
Some diagnoses are subject to further investigation and confirmation. These are not the last words! It is only God's word that is infallible, unchangeable, and final, and as a matter of fact, it's settled in heaven.
Moreover, you can never underestimate the power of divine intervention. Divine intervention is a possibility in addition to your doctor's findings. When human help fails, divine intervention is called for. Divine intervention is how God Himself interferes in human affairs.
Daniel in the lion's den is a biblical example of this. If God had not intervened, that would have been the end of Daniel's story.
Daniel 6:16: Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.
Daniel 6:17: And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.
Daniel 6:19: Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions.
Daniel 6:20: And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?
Daniel 6:21: Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever.
Daniel 6:22: My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.
Daniel 6:23: Then was the king exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.
It's possible that the illness that was projected to kill you won't even occur. If you are on medication, do so prayerfully. Jesus is the founder and perfecter of our faith, and I want to urge you to look up to Him. When God does not say it's over, no one should say it, please.
Quick Recovery
Meditating on God's word is one way to heal quickly following a bad report from the doctor. Let's take the bad report, for instance, which is about dying too soon. Talk to yourself every day in the words of Psalm 118:17. Above all things, God keeps His word!
